Objective C

Objective C is an extension of the C programming language, which came on the scene at about the same time as C's other Object Oriented offspring, C++. Objective C was intially developed to work with NeXT's NeXTSTEP OS (and the NS prefixes on many of the language's class names come through this route). Apple now makes extensive use of Objective C, as the main language for developing OSX and iOS applications, including use as the foundation of the Cocoa Programming Framework.
