Defining Network Security
People perceive and define network security in a number of different ways. For the purposes of this book, network security includes the detection and prevention of unauthorized access to both the network elements and those devices attached to the network. This includes everything from preventing unauthorized switch port access to detecting and preventing unauthorized network traffic from both inside and outside the corporate network.
