Password Recovery Cisco Router IOS

Procedure to recover the router password.

1. Connect to the console port.
2. Record the configuration register setting
3. Power cycle the router.
4. Issue the break sequence.
5. Type confreg 0x2142 to change the register settings.
6. Type reset to reboot router.
7. Skip the initial setup procedure.
8. Enter privileged EXEC mode.
9. Copy the startup configuration to the running configuration.
10. Verify the running configuration.
11. Enter global configuration and change enable secret password.
12. Re-enable the shutdown interfaces.
13. Change the configuration register settings using config-register 0x2102
14. Save the configuration changes and reboot.
